Levelling the Playing Field - 1 year update

The second reading of the Childcare Bill is taking place on Wednesday 25th November with the government proposing to double the free childcare offer for 3 and 4 year olds to 30 hours a week. However, new research shows that 40 per cent of families with young disabled children are not accessing the full current free childcare offer of 15 hours a week.

Charities warn of funding crisis in short breaks

New research published today by the Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) campaign shows more than half of local authorities have cut spending on short breaks (respite services) for families with disabled children since 2011/12. The research also shows that families are reporting it is more difficult to access short breaks.
