Aiming High for Disabled Children has delivered funding and system reforms that will start to transform services for families with disabled children.
To make sure that all disabled children benefit from the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) 2007, EDCM wants five more things as 'next steps'. Our supporter briefing on Aiming High for Disabled Children sets out what they are - and they are summarised below.
Help us make them happen at our 'Get Involved' page
EDCM's next steps for CSR 2007
1) The administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to get the same level of increased funding - and to commit this funding to disabled children.
2) The Department of Health to deliver on its commitment to match the support from DfES for short breaks by allocating at least £280 million of its CSR settlement.
3) The Department of Health to act on the recommendations of the palliative care review (See our news story on the palliative care review)
4) The Department of Health to ensure that the community equipment and wheelchair services review meet the needs of children - with new money attached.
(See the Whizz-Kidz campaign page at http://www.whizz-kidz.org.uk/Page.asp?originx7922sh_31905104459a74t6933559824)
5) HM Treasury to invest an additional £3.8 billion in the tax credit system to meet the Government’s interim target of halving child poverty by 2010. (visit the Campaign to End Child Poverty website)
