Membership Forum

Following approval of NCB's governance restructuring and new constitution at the AGM on 26 November 2009, NCB now has a fully constituted Membership Forum comprising representatives of NCB's members, networks, councils, fora and other partners.

The Forum functions as an advisory body to NCB and to its Board of Trustees.  Its primary focus is to strengthen member engagement with NCB, to provide a link between trustees and the wider membership and to advise the Board on policy development and strategic direction.  Forum members have the right to self-nominate for the 5 Forum-nominated trustee vacancies as they arise each year. The Forum chooses its own chair and appoints the chair and two further representatives to NCB's Selection Committee, responsible for trustee selection and for the oversight of all Forum and trustee appointments, co-options and elections.

The Forum meets twice a year, in addition to the AGM, and had its first formal meeting on 29 April 2010.  Forum representatives discussed a long list of possible public policy priorities for NCB for 2010/2011, identifying those with greatest support among Forum members and giving NCB a steer as to what the Forum felt should be the top five for development and proposal to the Board of Trustees.

At the April meeting, the Forum also appointed its Chair, Sally Jenkinson**, and two representatives on NCB's Selection Committee, Jolanta Lasota and Cecile Wright.  Representatives also agreed to set up a networking site for communication and consultation with the various "constituencies" and this will be in place before the Forum's next meeting on 21 October.  If you would like to contact one of your representatives in the meantime, please email us on forumreps@ncb.org.uk.
