Local authorities are responsible for local care, support and education services for disabled children and PCTs are responsible for local health services for disabled children. It is therefore important for disabled children, young people and their parents to be able to hold these local bodies to account on the services they provide. To help local authorities and PCTs make this commitment EDCM has developed the EDCM Charters. The Charters are a set of commitments that local authorities and PCTs can sign up to to show that disabled children are a priority in their area. They are signed by the people that have a responsibility to engage with children and families in their area.
Local Authority Disabled Children's Charter Find out about what the Local Authority Disabled Children's Charter is, whether your Local Authority has signed up and how to sign up. Primary Care Trust Charter Find out about what the Primary Care Trust Charter is, whether your PCT has signed up and how to sign up. Please note: The Charters are limited to England only due to devolution. Devolution is the process of powers that have previously sat with central Government being given to regional bodies. For example decisions on health used to be taken by the Westminster Government but are now taken by the Welsh Assembly Government for Wales and the Scottish Parliament for Scotland.
