Local Authority Disabled Children's Charter

The EDCM Charter is a set of commitments that local authorities can sign up to to show that they are committed to disabled children and their families.

EDCM published a new Local Authority Disabled Children's Charter in Spring 2011. It has updated commitments reflecting new duties on local authorities.  We are asking all Local Authorities to renew their commitment to local disabled children by signing the new Disabled Children's Charter.

We ask that local authorities commit to implementing the Charter commitments within 'one year of signing'.

See whether your local authority has signed up to the Charter.

Take Action!

Contact your local authority and ask them to sign up to the new Local Authority Disabled Children's Charter. Once they have signed you will be able to use the email tool to ask them how they plan on implementing the Charter commitments.

Charter 2006-2011

The original Local Authority Charter was launched in 2006, since then 99 local authorities signed up to the Local Authority Charter - that is over half of all local authorities in England! Many local authorities produced implementation plans showing how they were delivering the Charter's commitments.
