Government issues Pledge to provide better health services for disabled children 19 February 2013 The Department of Health has published 'Better health outcomes for children and young people: Our Pledge'. The Every Disabled Child Matters campaign (EDCM) has warmly welcomed this Pledge, which makes a 'system wide' commitment to 'provide better care for children and young people with long term conditions and disability'. Government launches 'public reading' of the Children and Families Bill 18 February 2013 The House of Commons has launched a new web forum enabling members of the public to comment on the Children and Families Bill, including reforms to the system of support for disabled children and young people. Children and Families Bill represents a 'lost opportunity' for disabled children 5 February 2013 Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) and Irwin Mitchell Solicitors express concern that the Children and Families Bill will fail to establish a joined up system of health and social care support for children with SEN, and will exclude disabled children from integrated support if they don't have identified educational needs.
