About Us

Who we are

Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) was the national campaign fighting for rights and justice for disabled children.

It was a consortium campaign run by four national organisations working with disabled children and their families - Contact a Family, the Council for Disabled Children, Mencap and the Special Educational Consortium. Between them, the campaign partners represented over 800,000 disabled children and young people in the UK.

What we do

We work closely with the disabled children's sector and our 34,000 supporters to lobby Government to ensure disabled children and their families have the services and support they need.

EDCM wants Westminster and local government to:

  • Give disabled children and their families new rights to the services and support they need.
  • Invest in new resources to make sure these rights can become a reality.
  • Give disabled children and their families a new level of priority, and work with them to improve the services they receive.
